Using the self-rated health data of China's 6th National Population Census conducted in 2010,this paper analyses age,sex,urban\rural and regional differences of the health status of older persons in China. The findings indicate that the general health status of the older persons is good, the health status of male older persons is better than that of the females. With the advance of age,the health status gets worse. Urban older persons are healthier than the rural, wide differences exist among provinces, most of the older persons in Eastern region rated their health status as good, while the proportion of healthy older persons is much lower in the Central and Western regions. Most of the healthy older persons have independent economic resources, and the majority of the unhealthy depend on the economic support of their family members.
