Ever since the independence, the Indian government has strived to eliminate poverty in its rural areas and to realize society equity. Half century has past, great achievements have been made, while poverty in rural areas is still prominent, poor people still account for a large part of the total population and the gap between the rich and the poor gets even bigger. Due to the influences from the traditional concepts, sexual discriminat ion has long been existed in India, which has been influencing polit ics, economy and people's thinks and has marginalized women in politics and resulted in their dependency in economy and marriage. The dependence of Indian women is offsetting the effect of anti??poverty process.
