We still face the pressure of population growth though the birth rate of world population was 30‰ in 1970~1975, and is expected to decrease to 21‰ in 2000~2005. Annual population growth rate in more developed regions has been very low, or even negative, compared with the highest in the less developed countries whose population size expands rapidly. The less developed the regions are, the more rapidly population grow. Countries with more than 100 million population have expanded to 11 at present, while there were only 4 in 1950. The total population of these countries makes up over half of the world population. The number of such countries is expected to be 18 in 2050. The fertility level of different regions and countries will determine the speed of population growth in the world.
