Adoption is a kind of social activities that may adjust internal relations among family members. Based on the data from the survey Children Adoption in Rural Areas of China, from the perspectives of demography, sociology and economics, this paper makes both quant itative and qualitative analyses of the demo-graphic characteristics of the adopters and the adopted involved in adoptive relationship. By referring to the records of the investigation this paper also does an exploratory research on the economic and social causes of adoption, the means and formalities of adoption as well as the negligence in adoption management in Chinese villages since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and bring its general patterns to light.
