In China, the National subsistence allowance system plays a very important role in the maintaining of social stability. To improve the life condition of those economically disadvantaged, China government has dedicated much effort to reform the subsistence allowances system but many research shows that there are still many people who are unsatisfied with their present situation and the government's policy of subsistence allowances. To find out the reasons of the unsatisfaction, we have done a survey among 445 economically disadvantaged people in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, by using systematic and cluster sampling. The survey includes general information of the causes and Symptom CheckList-90. Research findings show that the factors that influence these people's sat isfaction of subsistence allowances are as following: pressures from family burden, expectat ion of higher quality of life, higher expectation of their own abilities.
