From macro-economic perspective,this paper examines the influence of China's accession to the World Trade Organization(WTO) on the higher education in China.The authors think that China's accession to WTO will enlarge the pool of students who will take higher education significantly,and remarkably increase the profits of running universities and colleges.The competitory environment of higher education market will be further optimized.Universities and colleges will be regrouped into higher education groups that will result in more efficient economy of scale.The China'accession to WTO will impel it's higher education to tend towards the international market and get more opportunities.Meanwhile,the authors point out that the fierce competition due to the accession to WTO may eliminate some universities and colleges through selection and contest,lead domestic talents to flow out,and weaken Chinese traditional culture.
