No matter in terms of the theories or practices, the rapid growth of population in developing countries will have a harmful influence on their economic development, albeit the relationship between population growth and economic development is complex.For the long future, the overpopulation will still be a matter of primary importance to our country.From the nationwide point of view, there are some problems in the west of China, such as higher fertility, more rapid population growth, lower quality of the population, a weaker ecological circumstance and the lower level of economic development.These would be a great obstacle to the implement of large-scale developmental strategy in the west, if they would not be resolved very well.Therefore,we must persist in developing economy and keeping the population under control according to the "Decision" of the Central Committee of the Party.
