20世纪人口科学发展一瞥

摘要：

自1662年被誉为"人口学之父"的约翰·格兰特(John Grant)《关于死亡的自然的和政治的观察》一书发表以来,人口学脱胎而出,成为立于众学科之林的独立学科.不过在其后的200多年里,原本统计意义上的人口学进展不很大,而从经济学、社会学角度的人口研究却兴旺起来.特别是1798年马尔萨斯(Thomas Robert Malthus)《人口原理》(An Essay On the Princi-ple of Population)的发表,其后28年内连续出了6版,产生巨大影响,引起广泛论争.著书立说,严加抨击,成为马尔萨斯主义反对派有之;依据新情况发展《人口原理》,成为新马尔萨斯主义者也有人在,论争一直延续下来.当历史掀开20世纪新一页以后,这种论争虽未休止,但人口科学研究伸向更广阔的领域,取得新的突破,开辟了人口科学发展的新时代.
